Simond Rockyfil wiregate quickdraws are our best-selling quickdraws. They weigh only 79 grams and are ideal for alpine climbing. Wiregate carabiners typically outperform solid gate carabiners, even more so in alpine environments, because they are less susceptible to freezing closed. The performance and safety advantages of wiregates are discussed here. The sling is made of dyneema. |

Spider quickdraws and Spider non-locking carabiners are suited to rock climbing in the mountains and at the crag. Their clean profile works particularly well with bolts. They are less suited to snow and ice climbing, for which wiregates are superior. Spider locking carabiners are suited to all forms of climbing, and particularly snow and ice climbing as a frozen clove hitch can simply be slid off the carabiner nose. The Spider locking carabiner weighs 57 grams and the Spider quickdraw 108 grams. The quickdraw has a dyneema sling. |

Simond Rocky carabiners have a key-type gate closure, which is a good design for reducing snagging, if not quite as good as the Simond Spider gate closure described above. As described for the Simond Spider carabiners, the Simond Rocky carabiners have the monoblock mechanism for automatic locking during a fall. Rocky quickdraws have a dyneema sling. The carabiners are light (a little lighter than the Simond Spider carabiners) without being ultrasmall. The Rocky locking carabiner weighs 46 grams and the Rocky quickdraw 100 grams. |

Simond Cliff–Sprint carabiners are traditional ‘biners in terms of having a hooked nose as part of the gate closure. Like the Simond Spider and Rocky carabiners, Cliff–Sprint carabiners have the monoblock mechanism for automatic locking during a fall. Available as a quickdraw, straight gate (Cliff) carabiner, or bent gate (Sprint) carabiner. The quickdraw weighs 115 grams. |

Simond BLC belay locking carabiners have a wire clip that clips to the belay loop of a harness to prevent the carabiner from rotating. Like all climbing carabiners, a belay carabiner is two or three times weaker if loaded across its width rather than along its spine. Although climbers are generally good at keeping their carabiners correctly orientated, carabiners do occasionally rotate into the weaker position. The wire clip on the Simond BLC carabiner eliminates that possibility. The carabiner weighs 72 grams. |

Simond Jumbo locking carabiners are locking carabiners that have a wide gate opening and are therefore ideal to use with a belay device. The carabiners have a strong rating of 30 kN along the main axis and weigh 83 grams. |

Simond locking steel carabiners are generally for commercial use, being heavier but more durable than alloy carabiners. |
